I am planning on documenting my college lacrosse team's season and my goal is to get the Nikon D500 before the school year starts in September.

I definitely want to get a 70-200 2.8 for my arsenal but I'm not sure which one to get. I know that the newest nikon lens will break the bank but I'm sure that it will give me a high ROI. I've also looked at the Tamron G2 as an option or the older VRii.

Does anyone have any advice/experience with those lenses particularly for shooting lacrosse? Are there other lenses I could look into getting for shooting lacrosse games?
